About

“Keep Your Heart With All Vigilance”…. This blog is all about our journeys through leadership. It’s not a place you come to or can get to. It’s continual growth. It’s fluid. I have been extremely troubled by the lack of leadership in our country, in our churches, and in general. At first I would just get mad and maybe post something on Facebook occasionally, keeping most of my frustrations on the inside. Then it dawned on me that if I want to make a difference, I need to help create change. If it’s been put on my heart and consuming so much of my thought, then God is probably trying to tell me something.

“There is no off season for leadership. As long as you’re in the game, you need to keep working and keep climbing.” – John C. Maxwell

First I’ll start out by telling you what this blog is not. It is not a religious blog. It is not a political blog. Those beliefs and opinions about specific issues progress and change over the years and it’s just not necessarily what this blog is about. I will tell you though for full transparency of where I come from that I am a Christian. I am married to the love of my life Kim. And I recently changed parties from Republican to Democrat, a lot due to my frustration in lack of leadership. None of these things is what the blog is about. But you should know I may occasionally bring up a scripture or two because it is a barometer and guide for me.  I will bring up Kim my wife at times. I try to keep away from talking about politics, but I will occasionally read books about historical and current politicians on both sides if they have strong leadership qualities.  Also, hate speech or name calling or any similar behaviors are not tolerated here. It’s a leadership blog! 🙂

“You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.” – Zig Ziglar

That being said, now on to what this blog is about. It is about leadership development. And in leadership development it is about helping leaders help develop other leaders. I may not  have the resume you would look for in this type of thing. But here’s what I do know and do have. I know the people that do. They can be found in libraries, in book stores, and on amazon. Training worth hundreds of thousands of dollars at our finger tips. And by taking the journey and encouraging others to do so we take the first step of increasing our leadership authority. We start to grow other leaders. We can make a difference. Whether you pastor a small church or a mega church, whether you sell sell Mary Kay or are the leader of a Fortune 500 company, growing your leadership within yourself and those around you is one of the best things you can do. The focus here is not just about being studied in what we read rather, but holding each other accountable for actually taking what we’ve learned and applying it.

That’s why this is not just another blog. It is far bigger than that. It’s a movement. To grow and multiply leaders. Together, you and I are building tomorrow’s leaders one person at a time. Please join me in this movement here.

  1. Hi Sarah
Just read your comments on the shame book and really enjoyed the insightfulness of your observations. I see you have a new last name so congratulations! I enjoyed meeting your partner in Tulsa in June.
    Stay well.
